What Other Qualitative Data Collection Methods Can You Consider?

So far, we have focused on the techniques and processes used in interviews, which are widely used data collection methods in qualitative research in many social science disciplines. There are several other common qualitative data collection methods that are useful for other research purposes. Participant observation and ethnography are widely practiced data collection methods in fields of study such as anthropology and cultural geography. These methods require careful planning and execution. The guidelines for field research are extensively covered in many discipline-specific methods books. We recommend you to look at some of the books listed in the Reference and Further Reading section of this chapter for detailed guidelines for these data collection methods. Here, we would like to offer a little advice which we have not covered in the above discussions on interviews in general.
